It did it was rated at 260 from 99 to 04 I think.Actually less than a much older lt1 camaro such as mine.Ive actually took on e on the highway with not much of a problem.

Ya, I forgot htat *05* was the magical year of the 'Stang, I was thinking it was *04*. But the 04 wont even be a problem for a *stock* 95 LT1, lol

 

Someone told me the newer ones have a different cam,pistons,and other things,but I thought they were the same form 99 to 04

 

all GT's from 1999 to 2004 are identical 260hp performance wise.... in 98, they were rated at 225/295. in '05, as most of you know it is 300hp. hope this answers some questions. but back to the post, i think you will have no problem with the GT. especially if you have longtubes. get a new lid as it will not hurt but i have a '02 GT and it isin't funny how slow it is compared to my LS1 when it was bone stock. good luck and perfect your launch!

 

You guys are crazy....Lt1 vs 2v's are a driver's race stock vs. stock.....Modded stangs will run with the right bolt-ons.. I went from a 50 mph kick yesterday against my buddy 02 ram air (4.10's, lid, and loudmouth) and he never passed me till I ran out of gear in 4th which is about 115........He was surprised said I was only mustang he didn't spank....There out there so watch out guys....I'm chevy guy too so don't flame me.........

 

The 05's have 3-valve heads on them with variable cam-timing........

 

If that is all you have (4.30's) that 02 TA, with 4.10's would have pulled you so hard from a 50 MPH kick it would be unbelievable. 02 Ta's are LS1's not LT1's BTW.

 

^Yup, very true. That LS1 would have absolutely ROASTED you w/ the mods he has.
But in all reality, none of the mustangs from 94 and up (or whatever year the fox-body ended) was ever a challenge for an LT1, let alone an LS1.

 

None of the mustangs from 94 and up? That covers a wide spectrum of different ponies. Saleens, Roush, Machs, Cobras, and modded (heavily) GT's are considered worthy opponents, even threats. Everytime I go to the track I see a Foxbody or a GT running 11's 12's. The aftermarket is a GT owners friend. Honestly, how many of you guys would have a stock anything much less a stock Stang. I think thats why ford have always keep the numbers lower than others such as GM or Dodge. The aftermarket companies are paying Ford for using their autos to make money. It makes sense if you think about it. The Cobra/Lightning/GT (the fast one) are proof that they have the equipment and engines to be faster but choose to sell more cars.

 

ok guys me and my buddy raced last night from a light to the next light which was about a 1/4 mile. the light turned green n we both step on the gas. he took the first launch but next thing u know that car is like 3 cars behind me. he was pissed that he couldn't beat me with his mods and now he's deciding to sell his GT and get a ws6. i guess he got the launch cuz his is a 5 speed n mines a auto. but my next goal is to get some gears, ls6 intake, and a cam.
if u got the right mods done to your car, u can compete with any car out there.

Saleens, Roushes, Cobras etc, are NOT an ordinary Mustang lol. Hell.. I would take any of those three I just mentioned
