When I do something to the engine it will be in the winter when I wont be driving it. As for the poll, it was on this website and the third gen did win the title of "Which gen is your favorite/ which represents the Camaro name best" and if you read through most people say that looks wise it is a tie between the 1st and 3rd gen,http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...ht=camaro+poll.

Dont get me wrong I love first gens, dont care much for the look of second gens, and like 4th gens but sometimes the styling in kinda bland. For the money I think 3rd gens are the best because they are dirt cheap, a mix of new and old, and when properly done can look very good. Also, various magazines have said that third gens are some of the best budget performance cars along with 80's mustangs. If you care I will find these articles for you but all I was claiming is third gens are not pieces of crap. For $800 you can get a 305/350 with a TPI setup and get into lo 13's fairly easily.
Who cares what a poll with a fraction of the total population of car drivers thinks. I understand what you are saying in your last paragraph. Iagree. I did not agree with your previous post that they are the best blah blah blah for everything. But they are extremely cheap and are in a way just like the 5.0 for going fast on a budget. I think the 5.0 is still favored though. I really don't think for 800 bucks total including the price of the car you could get a 3rd gen to the low 13's unless you have parts given to you for basically free as a previous poster did, and he still has not ran the times yet so it is just mere speculation.

i would like you to realize im only 18, and age has nothing to do wiht what you drive...secondly just dont go saying 3rd gens are best because of some poll...its an opinion, and i VERY VERY rarely see 3rd gens in good condition...generally just rust buckets, that make the worse sounds ever... and no 3rd gens are not on the level of the late 80 5.0's w/ ease and expense of speed...but i would say and probably most people on here would agree with me that the best are 4th then a close 2nd being 1st gen, then 3rd gen and 2nd in a far place behind

I said "As for those that say third gens are pieces of crap you need to check again, I havent seen the results lately think it was voted that third gens looked the best of all gens, they are the cheapest, probably one of the easiest and best to modify"

-Was simply stating not all third gens are pieces of crap
-I said there was a poll and there was and it was on this site, plus most of the people that responded said rather 1st or 3rd, I even like 1st gens more.
-I said they were the cheapest and probably are.
-The reason I said they are probably the easiest and best to modify is because they are so cheap and so common that you dont have to worry about how you modify them.

1st gen - Most expensive usually, not smart to modify drastically since many frown upon it, dont know much about them truthfully but didnt most come with 302's?

2nd gen - Probably about equal to modify as the third gen but I liked the looks of a third gen much more. Plus, I can guarentee I would get redneck comments if I was driving a 2nd gen, even if it was fast as hell. That and the fact that you get any of the tiny modern things usually that later gens yet wasnt old enough to be a true classic imo.

3rd gen - Dirt cheap for the most part, offered usually in a 305 or 350 with TPI or a Quadrajet. You can do whatever you want because no one cares. After the 1st gens probably looks the best for the most part.

4th gen - not exactly cheap, bland styling for the most part, best power.

All I was trying to say is that if you got 5k the third gen is the best bet.

I would have to stongly disagree...i got my 4th gen for $5,300.....and in my opinion it looks damn good. Way better perforance than a 3rd gen, and less problems since its much newer. Id say the best bet for 5K would be a 4th gen

Wow you completely ripped that guy off then because it is very unlikely to get a 4th gen for under 6k that doesnt have a v6 or rediculous amount of miles.

You must not know what autotrader.com is do you? 3 Years ago i got my trans am with 80k for 4800 bucks. I would laugh at you if you payed 5k for a thirg gen that wasn't completely perfect with under 50k miles. My friend is buying another friends 93 camaro with 93k for 3500 bucks and its in good shape.

Ok Fellas,
Its about to officially go down. The guy has his car tuned and he feels that he picked up 40-50 rwhp. I don't know if this is dynometer or butt-o-meter...but he feels that the car is much quicker/faster than before.
We will hopefully line them up this weekend when things cool off a bit. He is going to the track Friday ( If nothing comes up). So that will give me an idea of what he running so long as he doesn't hold back while at the track.
Talk to you guys later.....

Tim

IF I lose really bad, that will give me more incentive to get in on the August Special with Nitro Dave

Re: '96 H/C LT1 vs turbo honda civic..who will win?

Hey all,
I strongly feel that this race will not happen. Apparently, the young man with the Turbo Honda did not go the track due to other activities at the track that got held over. He did go to a local drag spot and raced. He won some and lost some. But the kicker is...He raced another Honda that was all motor with the same internal mods as his except the other guy DID NOT have a turbo...just higher compression. The all turbo honda barely beat the All Motor honda. So now the guy feels that He isn't as fast as he thought and is probably a little shell shocked to run me at this time. I haven't heard from the guy. So I won't be posting anymore about this. If it goes down...I'll post it, but don't hold your breath.

Later...

Tim

I don't think the Honda guy went to a track. It reads, to me, as if he went to the local street racing and had some runs, and didn't do as good as he thought.

Sorry for the misinformation given earlier and I'm glad someone someone has there money on me, but don't bet too much, LOL
I'll keep you guys posted... as soon as something goes down win or loose, I'll reopen this thread if it isn't too far back in the archieves.

Does it have an engine swap, Si means nothing, the generation of Civic goes 88-91, 92-95. There are too many variables and not enough facts here. Get some more correct info of mods and it would be much easier for me to tell you what's up!

302's were only available on Z28's which were'nt that common. Most base models had either 327's or 350's. There are more 1st gen. camaros at my home track than any other car except maybe for fox body stangs.
