94z28 vs 92Hatch w/Spray! (Evo guy said no to race)

Ok, the evo guy said no he doesnt want to race... But they got me another race.... Its a 92 Hatchback with a LS Motor and a header and 50 shot... No catback no intake... He dynoed 122 to the wheels... No spray.. and runs 13.6-14.2 consistently im told.. Wants to race for 50-100 dollars... What do you guys think? The car weighs 1400 im told to....

I will have my new shocks/springs, headers, and dynotune then....

13.6-14.2 pretty inconsistant...and I'll assume he puts 160ish to the wheels on spray...I'm no import guy but is that enough HP to go that fast in a hatch.

Oh and nut up and get gears

EDIT: how gutted is this car

If he's usin the spray and only makin 122 hp then i wouldn't be worried even if it was as light as a bike you should smoke him...but if its more like closer to 200 when he's on the spray it'd be allittle closer but you'd still have him i think..

as long as you race from a dig, he wont have the MPH to catch back up. unless he is more modded then they are letting on.

If the car truly weighs 1400 lbs (which I doubt), and puts down 122 hp, you've got to add about 200 hp to carry the extra 2000 lbs. you're carrying. So it's really like you're racing a 322 rwhp fbody. If he sprays, you're going down (again, assuming it actually weighs 1400 lbs), sorry.

You got it backwards. If they go from the dig, the light car has more advantage. The faster you go, the less important weight becomes. If this car really weighs 1400 lbs. and puts down 122 w/o spray, he's gonna rape you on the bottle....sorry. You might have a chance in the triple digits though. I'd go from a highway punch.

hmm, i dont see how u r going to down "322 whp" to the ground on the street with FWD.
that is where i am coming from.
edit: WTF, u dont think weight plays a major factor at higher speeds?

I think he's saying aerodynamics become more of a factor, and intertia(or forward movement) has been established already so weight is less of an issue. If that makes sense

I understand what you're saying about fwd, but the disadvantage of fwd isn't going to negate the huge weight advantage. An no, weight isn't a huge factor at high speeds. Like the other guy said, it's all about inertia. Once you get moving good, frontal area and drag co-efficient become more important than weight. A good example is a crotch rocket. They get out of the hole like a mf'er because they only weigh 5-600 lbs., but once they get over 100 mph, their acceleration slows tremendously due to their terrible aerodynamics.

If he's still in the 14's on the spray, I don't think there's a question who'll win. I doubt his weight claim though if that's all it's running.
