BTW a friend of mine with a 92z28 lost to him by about 1/2-1 car length ;(

Thanks for input!

Do you really have to ask the outcome of this race? I mean, come on, there is about a full second difference and 8-10 mph difference between the 2 stock.

What's driving got to do with this race? Move the shifter to D and go.

I guess you've never been to the track and seen Z06's running 14's-15's, when the car is capable of mid-low 12's. Driver is always a big factor. The 5.0 is way outmatched though, I agree.

I think what he meant that with an automatic it takes less driver skill to make a good run.As long as you dont give it to much gas and roast the tires you can run quick in a auto. Basicly anyone can make a good run in a auto.
I dont beleive you can buy a auto Z06.

Nope, most Z06s I see at the track turn in around 13 flat to 13.5 with a few upper 13's and a few mid 12's. Most guys can't launch the car right and either bog it down way over power the tires.

When I went to the track there was a stock Z06 cutting mid 12's all day long. It was a manual.

You can not get a Z06 with an automatic, unless your a dumb@$$ and put an auto in it. Its kinda like the 1LE cars, from what I understand you couldn't get those in automatic either. And someone pulling mid14s-15 in a z06 should be forced to give the car to someone who can handle it... ummm me maybe?

I agree with what you are all saying. All I wanted to get across was that the driver can make a HUGE difference. In an auto, it's much less of an issue. Like others said, as long as he doesn't burn up the tires on the launch, he's home free.

Good discussion. BTW, I have seen a 14+ second Z06 run. Some guys just don't know how to get the power to the ground well.

I beleive you about seeing Z06's running bad times.I saw one of those SRT-10 dodges running 14's.
