2000 SS Vs. Blown 99+ GT

I was headed home from graduation the other night and I had my two cousins in the car (both ~ 170 lbs.) and a full tank of gas. I pulled up next to a gold colored, 99+ GT at the light. I could hear the blower at idle and he had a few guages on the A pillar. The car sounded pretty good and I had no intentions of racing him given that my car was weighed down pretty heavily.

Light turns green and I just take off normally. Guy in the GT waits a few seconds then nails it and takes off. It didn't look all that quick so I caught up to him and we went from a ~ 45 mph roll. He was only able to pull one car on me from 45-110 or so. I couldn't believe I hung that well in my bone stock SS, which weighed an extra 400 lbs. We get up to the next light and both our windows were down. I told him my fast camaro was at home and that this was my bone stock daily driver. He said the GT was his daily driver as well. He said he had a Vortech blower on the car and bolt-ons. Light goes green and we ran from ~ 10 mph roll in first. I was a little ahead through first and second and by 105 or so, the front of my car was at the middle of his door. He was just barely inching away from me.

If I had been by myself, I would have pulled him. Pretty weak if you ask me. :P I really wish I was in the '97...that woulda been ugly.

lol I could hear the blower. Think what you want. I know a blown stang should be able to beat me a little more convincingly, but I'm just telling what happened.

Then he was the worst driver in the world. 99% of Blown GT's are in the mid 12's at 114+

I made no claim about 99% of the blown GTs, did I? I was simply telling my story and ***** like you are the reason I don't post kill stories too often. Don't make the mistake of thinking you are the only car savvy person on the board, noob. Obviously a blown GT should have pulled me harder, especially given my weight handicap. Maybe he was only running a few pounds of boost, hard to say.

It probably was the fact your registered date of MAY 2004 gave it away....and about 99+ GT's, I actually have dyno tuned many of them and I would still never claim such crap as mid 12's@114+...they ones I have tuned make from 360-450rwhp normally given mods...and only a few are mid 12's@114+.

Driver on the street can kill almost anything and it is not like he is racing these cars in a 15 second Z24....

If you don't have anything positive to add to the story, why even bother replying? It could have had a terrible tune, who knows, maybe terrible driver. Like Cantonracer said, not every blown GT runs 12's at 114+

Nice Kill by the way

My old setup (complete stock 2000 engine with blower) ran 12.4@114 so it's possible.

97bowtie, good run/kill.

Ok, I have a Z28 with Headers and Exhaust and I raced a 2002 Mustang GT Convertable (Bit heavy but still) With a Vortect and we were dead Even. So I believe him. GT+Supercharger with low boost = Still slow Now a heavy modded GT...

Ok, now you're just being dumb. You know nothing about my knowledge of these cars.

Have a day.

A buddy of mine has an 01 GT with Borla cat back, O/R H pipe, T/A to 15 degrees btdc, Steeda underdrive pullies, Steeda triax, 3.73 gear, mac CAI, and he ran a 13.5@102 with a 2.051 60'. He has raced 6 LT1's never losing to a single one and raced a 01 SS and had his front bumper about the middle of the camaro's door, so yeah, a bolt on GT CAN and will hang with an LS1. Im not even a mustang fan, but I give credit where credit is due.
