1st win - still dissapointed :(

Ok, I got a 94 LT1 camaro a week ago, I thought it ran pretty well. This kid at my school thinks hes awesome with a rust bucket 240SX and said hed race. Mines all stock, he had the usual on his. His was a manual, I have a A4. I had my heat on high if that matters I took him off (started in D at 1500rpms) the line barely and beat him good on top end, but I think i shoulda whooped up all over him. What do you guys think?

Do you get a lot of wheel spin off the line? That can always hurt you in a race. Also, figure you're racing a much lighter car ... less weight to get moving initially, but eventually you severely out-power him, and beat him good, exactly as you did .

Good kill . Tell that guy to get a real car if he wants to run with the men .

Heater on or off does not matter whatsoever. ( just for future referrence )
Your car might need a good tune up, but also chances are you are sporting the standard 2.73 gearing which would explain taking a little longer getting into the appropriate powerband.
Not saying those are bad as you can see from Caps sig, but my choice (personal preferrence ) is 3.42s A4.

Do a good tune up, basic mods on the intake and exhaust, slap a set of 3.42-3.73 gears in that rear and then rematch him. He will get embarrassed quickly.
Wanna destroy him by train lengths? look into a precision industries 2800-3000 stall converter and drag radials...whew!

in my old 96 3800 series i whooped this guy with a 240sx with all the usual body mods and probably a few bolt-on's well off the line. i had intake 160 thermo spark wires synthetic oil and a flows muffler. those 3800 series v6's are pretty strong and quick, i almost miss it

no, the tires didnt spin at all - the car just kinda bogged. I bought it off a guy who had it sitting in his yard for a year. He claimed it had new plugs and wires on it, and I had already gone throught a few tanks of premium and changed the oil Its a real dog on take off. Im sure the 2.43's are helping anything. With a 3000 stall and 3.73, and some bolt ons im guessing itd feel like a different car.

(lol)Did he actually think he would take you in a 240sx.That car is a high 15 low 16 second car at best.Install some steeper gears and a TCI torque converter and you will not have to worry about any bog at all.Try doing a minor tune up also pcv valve, fuel filter, air filter,plugs,wires...etc.
