Probably since when a full exhaust, a cam swap, and a tune picks up 100+ rwhp on an LS1 car.

Man you really need to get some of your facts straight before you post up.

There is no such thing as an 02 Mach 1.
They were only made in 03 & 04.
They were only rated 305/310hp at the crank so one that made 296 at the wheels would be underrated not overratted because to make that at the wheels it's making way more than 305/310hp at the crank.

The '01 and '02 Z28s were rated 310hp, not 315.

It's widely accepted that LS1 F-bodies were massively underrated. Mine made 325hp to the wheels with just an airbox lid and a catback exhaust. I'll be generous and guess 12% driveline loss -- that's 369hp at the flywheel.

So do you think that my airbox lid and catback exhaust are adding 59hp () or do you think that maybe it made a little more than 310 from the factory?

I guess it depends where you look for your stock horsepower ratings.

So your 2 days late on trying to prove me wrong....but you didnt, did you?
Im also pretty sure I stated that I believe their underated. Nice job on your 59hp gain.Maybe your airfilter just needed to be changed

I remember back in 1998 when the LS1 had debuted in the F-bodies, there was an article in Hot Rod magazine that showed the LS1 Vette putting down 280ish rwhp and the LS1 F-body putting down a tiny bit more (284rwhp?) due to the solid axle.

A 1998 Mustang GT put down 181rwhp. That's right at what my 3.0L BMW puts out stock.

Just found it.

May 1998 Hot Rod Magazine Page 46

'98 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
Miles On Test Vehicle: 4,233
Engine 5.7 OHV LS1 V-8
Transmission 6M
Rated Power: 305 Hp at 5,200 rpms
335 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm

Dyno Observed Power:
292.8 Hp at 5,400 RPM
307.5 Lb-Ft At 4,400 RPM

'98 Corvette
Miles on Test Vehicle 5,237
Engine 5.7 OHV LS1 V-8
Transmission 6M
Rated Power: 345 Hp at 5,600 rpms
350 lb-ft at 4,400 rpm

Dyno Observed Power:
285.6 Hp at 5,400 RPM
301.2 lb-ft at 4,100 RPM

305 rated horsepower vs 345 rated horsepower = same results to the wheels.
(Vette has an IRS and more drivetrain loss)

My 325rwhp was achieved using an old, dirty, stock-style paper filter. I tried taking the filter out altogether and lost 7hp! Also, presumably, the factory rating was supposed to be with a clean filter.

Wikipedia is wrong in this case. It happens.

I am confused here...... 1995 lt1? 300hp? Is this your estimate? Should be 270 if you are quoting stock numbers. He should put more to the wheels with the mach1 then you make total. Granted he is better geared for a run from a stop then rolling and the car was apparently new to him. It takes a while to learn how to choose the right gears from a roll.

Just when i thought this thread was over....another dumb post. Stock lt1's in 95 were rated at 275hp.In 1992 the corvette was rated at 300hp and had 4 bolt mains where the camaro, trans am,firebird had 2 bolt mains. The engine in my car is from a 92 corvette so thats where i get my base 300hp before mods. So the ods of a stock mach 1 putting more to the wheels than i make total are slim to say....none.The mach 1 didnt stand a chance.Crazy the owner accepted this but you guys can't. As far as the car being new to him...I guess were even because I havent driven my car in over 4 years and it was the first week i had it put back together so its new to me too..plus i was only putting out 1.20jw from my fluxcapacitor so he had the edge.

I'm not here to compare whos is bigger,or who knows more about this or that.I raced a bone stock 03 mach 1 in my 95 camaro with bolt ons= no match. End of story.
Let me start a new topic
One of my employee's cavalier wich is 140hp stock 2.2 ecotec now supercharged and modded beating a mustang gt.

No its when people like you post stupid things like "i got proved wrong" how did i get proved wrong? Its the fact that instead of people saying wow thats cool,or nice kill ect they say things to make them selves look cool or to make the person look wrong. So thanks for chiming in jtarp, your "statement" was greatly appreciated.

Sorry, some of us were not aware of your cars history. But even then get a dyno run before claiming hp. Like I said, his car is better geared to run from a stand still. Depending on the speed you ran from that car...and mustangs in general can be tough to learn at first. He may not have known the correct gear to shift to. Congrats you beat the driver. Nothing wrong with that.
