actully just to let you know that when it is a turbo it is a mitusbishi 2 liter and when it is non turbo it is a dodge 1.8
I've owned six 1st gen DSMs, an 89 Mirage turbo, and a Galant VR4. I joined Club DSM in 1992. It's safe to say I know a little bit about the various models. I can usually tell year, model, and equipment level from 50ft.

I'm full of useless trivia like:

- If you see a 90-91 Talon, it's either 2.0 NA FWD or turbo AWD. They didn't offer it in the 1.8 liter FWD nor the 2.0 turbo FWD until 1992.

- Turbo Lasers still had the cheap seats. Swapping with an Eclipse or Talon gives you much nicer seats.

- The 1.8 liter in 90-94 is also Mitsu. The 95-99 NA cars used a Dodge 2 liter, except for the non-turbo Eclipse Spyder. It used a Mitsu 2.4 liter from the Galant for the extra torque in the heavier car. NA Spyders also had the dual-tipped exhaust used on the turbo models.

What kind of truck do you have and what modifications have you made to it? I live in a small town of about 5500 people and their isn't many around here that want to race either, but one of my friends just bought 96 Trans Am and I feel another race coming up. (Its not the same Trans Am that I posted about awhile ago in this forum).

Re: 02 Duramax vs. 95 Eclipse

Its an 01 4wd ex cab with a Banks six-gun tuner and the speed-loader add on. Also has the 4" Monster exhaust and big-head wastegate along with CAI.
I've also installed a propane kit but its not dialed in yet. The thing pulls REALLY hard but unless its in 4wd it doesnt hook up til 4th gear.
I'm starting to worry about frying the trans but so far its been o.k.
I've never had the truck to the track but my T/A runs 13.9s and the truck will walk all over it.

Re: 02 Duramax vs. 95 Eclipse

In 1997, GM and Isuzu agreed that Isuzu is mainly responsible for diesel engine development for GM.

Did DMAX, Ltd do any engineering? Looks like just production:
In the U.S.A., DMAX, Ltd. was set up jointly by Isuzu and GM to manufacture diesel engines.

Hell, GM sells Isuzu trucks as their medium-duty vehicles.

Anyway, way off topic. Just was curious about the Isuzu-GM effort into diesels.

Oops, was wrong about the FWD Talon. I've never actually owned a Talon though so I am a bit rusty these days. Haven't owned a DSM for 7 years now.

The two statements do not contradict each other. The 1.8 liter was offered on DSMs in 90-91, just not in the Talon.

Regarding GM/Isuzu - that they work together on diesel engines is great. I just can't get past GM putting that Chinese inline-5 in their latest midsize trucks.

Like we couldn't have guessed that you were "only 16" by your comment.

You may think you know a lot, but one thing you don't know is how to put a logical sentence together. Are you enrolled in any English classes or are you to "smart" to even go to school? Do you know what punctuation marks are? Also, why even start to mouth about a topic that doesn't even concern you in the first place?

Re: 02 Duramax vs. 95 Eclipse

In about 4 years or so, you'll realize how little you really knew about anything back when you were just 16. The worst kill I've ever been the victim of was at the hands of a "rice burner" -- a Talon GST that ran a 12.2 to my 12.9 or so. It was running race gas and large boost levels, but as far as I could tell, it was otherwise a full interior car. A very similar car smoked me when I was in my '95 Z28. May have well been the same guy, but the beating in the '95 was a few years ago. My current car and sole mod is in my sig.

Bottom line is that I've spanked quite a few American cars, but got soundly spanked by what I might have assumed was a "ricer" if I had seen it on the street. Even at the track I had no idea that the guys car ran low 12s. I don't assume anything anymore. Anyone that wants to run might have a very fast car (or truck) regardless of the brand badging.

please forgive my punctuation, I was not aware that it is frowned upon to not use proper punctuation and grammer. Forgive me. I had no intentions of pissing anyone off. Please accept my appology.
