02 Duramax vs. 95 Eclipse

Well, I've been trying to set this race up for about a month or so and tonight it finally happened. First let me give you some background info on the vehicles. The 2002 Chevrolet Duramax Diesel 4x4 with an automatic belongs to my mom and is outfitted with the old Banks Power System (Ottomind Computer w/ Big Head waste gate actuator), a K&N stock replacement airfilter and larger diameter tires. The 95 Eclipse 5 spd belongs to one of my good friends and has a CAI, Muffler, Adjustable Coil Over Kit, plugs and wires and the usual body kit and paint job. Anyways, now to the race. The reason I wanted to race with my moms truck is because we both know that a race between him and my 96 Camaro would be a waste of time and he just won't do it because it would be no challenge for me. I went to pick up my brother from a basketball game in the D-max so I called him up and asked if he wanted to race and he said ok. We headed towards the place where we race (almost exactly a quarter mile) and lined up. My brother counted us down and we took off. He got me out of the hole by about 6 feet, then I started to pull on him and he missed 2nd gear. I ended up winning by about a car and a half. We then pulled over and I asked if he wanted a re-run since he missed 2nd and he said ok. We turned around and raced again. I spun a little this time and got the boost up quicker so I got the jump on him by about half a truck. I then procedded to keep pulling and ended up beating him by close to two trucks. He then went home sad and I went home pretty pleased because my moms big, huge diesel took out the rice burner.

Yep, that rice burner made in Normal, Illinois, powered by a Dodge 2 liter and Dodge transmission...

Sorry, I don't keep up with information like that about cars that don't interest me. I'd be willing to bet that my friend who owns the car doesn't even know those interesting facts. Thanks for setting me straight.

Was it a turbo Eclipse?

I'm predicting it isn't a turbo because of the body kit. It's usually a very good indicator of a RS or GS model.

John M is on top of things once again because it is not a GST, it is a GS.

I wouldn't be surprised if a modded Duramax could hang with a stock turbo Eclipse. Those diesel trucks can be really fast with mods. Mod that truck!

Your Mom's truck's engine is a rice burner, it's an Isuzu.

Diesel's are nuts`. Friends dad has an 03 F350 on 35s and 4 inch lift....only has a 110horse chip and hangs with my car till a little over 100kmh, i only beat it by a car and a half 2 cars....runs like a 13.5 on stock tires and about mid low 14s as is.........i fear diesel trucks in 4high and that are lifted

Incorrect. It's a joint effort by General Motors and Isuzu, designed and produced by DMAX, Ltd (the joint effort company) in Moraine, Ohio.

Those diesels are a lot of fun to mod. My truck will put a couple of lengths on my T/A every time. Its getting pretty hard to find anyone in my small town that will even try to run with me anymore.
