Question Will a larger diameter front swaybar cause..

..uneven wear on the outer edge of the front tires? I installed an adco 32mm hollow sway bar a few years back and had it aligned after. I have since noticed that the outer edge of the tires have worn flat, even(level) with the tread depth. There is plenty of tread left on the inner 3/4s of the tires, they look almost new. Is there excessive pushing on the outer wall due to the larger bar not having as much flexibility? I do not daily drive the car and probably have less than 2000mi on this configuration. I am concerned that I won't pass safety inspection with the tires in the condition they are and don't want to buy new tires if I don't have to if it will pass, or if this situation will do this to new tires. ...Ideas? could the larger bar have caused this? Is the common in general or with aftermarket swaybars? Should I get it re-aligned? TIA -Jeff

Sounds like alignment to me.

What are your alignment settings?

100% alignment. A 32mm sway bar will help handling not wear tires (unless you corner hard all the time).

Re: Will a larger diameter front swaybar cause..

I have 32mm front bar.

Noticed wear on my outside edges of the front tires.

Camber had slipped. One front tire was up to +.7 degrees the other was at 0.

Had the front tires flipped on the rims and the worn edge relocated to the inside on the rear. Moved the rears forward.

Get an aligment relocate the tires if they will permit that type of rotation. Should take care of the problem.

Re: Will a larger diameter front swaybar cause..

Thanks for the responses... Anyone recommend alignment specs for this setup? As mentioned, I have the 32mm Addco on the front and a 21mm 1LE on the rear. I have replaced the rear lcas w/ BMR tubular units w/ poly-bushings as well as the LG panhard rod. All of the endlinks have been replaced w/ poly bushings kits as well.
