Where to buy Spacers??

Howdy,

I bought a set of Weld Draglites off a member last night. I don't want to grind the calipers and i know spacers are a must since i don't. The front rims are 15x3.5" and i was wondering where i could buy grade quality spacers and how big of a spacer do i need? My local track doesn't enforce the chosen IHRA rules too strictly, so im not worried there. If anyone could help that'd be great...im looking for something really strong since (i know i know) i'll be driving the 3.5" tires on the street for awhile until i can afford some tires for my vette rims...

Thanks for the help in advance,
Dave

try going to a specialty truck store type place. or you can order a set from Summit. you need 5/16's inch spacers

Re: Where to buy Spacers??

The cheap "spacers" you get at your local auto parts store are not necessarily your best choice. A lot of them have excessive clearance in the stud holes and "float", making them very hard to center. NHRA does not premit these, requiring that any spacer by "hub-centric" or "lug-centric", with minimal clearance to the studs.

You might want to rethink your intent to drive true drag "skinnies" on the street..... they are not intended for that kind of use. Your Welds are stamped "Drag Race Only", and any skinny I have ever seen, Including my Moroso 26x4.5" DS2's has a huge "Racing Use Only - Not For Highway Use" in raised letters on the side of the tire. I've tried driving it on the street.... very dangerous.

Re: Where to buy Spacers??

I bought some Mr. Gasket wheel spacers last night off jegs, so ill see how they fit. I know they aren't for street use (the skinny tires do have tread though) but still. I don't have $400 for some new tires for my stock 5 star rims. I don't drive my car very far, or on very bumpy roads just 8 miles to school usually. My friend has drove his Grand National on weld draglites 4" wide for the past year and a half and he has never had a problem..being 16 sucks *** with no money. My car is going in the garage relatively soon so i can stop wastin money on gas and start saving for the turbo kit.

Could i run the weld draglite rears in the back and move the stock rear tires to the front? Sure it'd look goofy as hell, but it'd get me by for awhile. Whats the smallest rim i can run in the front for a weld draglite..5" with like a 6" tire?

If ya can't tell i want to run draglites on the street.

Thanks,
Dave
