Wheel hop?

What cuases wheel hop? Too much traction? or not enough?

This past weekend is the first time I had the problem, with hop at the track I have mine dropped 1.8 inches with bmr relocation brackets but I didn't have them on the last hole.

I don`t think it`s a matter of too little or too much traction, Basically your suspension is unable to control the axle...Wheel hop happens when your suspesion loads and unloads...bushings, shocks, tire pressure are the usual problems, I`m sure others will chime in too but spring wrap up, poor pinion angle can also cause it

Re: Wheel hop?

The only thing pushing your car forward on launch is the LCA's pushing on the chassis. If the LCA's are angled down from the axle to the body, as the LCA pushes down on the body, the reaction at the axle end of the LCA tends to lift the axle... unloads the tires, tires spin, loss of forces in the LCA, lift on the axle disappears, and the tires regain traction and the process starts all over again... hop, hop, hop.

With a car that has been lowered 1.8", you should have the LCA's in the lowest hole on the relo brackets, and even that may not be enough. You may want to use an airbag in the passenger side rear spring to keep the body from squatting on that side, and contributinig to the problem.
