I noticed on the way to work today I have a loud dampened thumping noise when I hit rough spots in the road. It also did it on a big speed bump too.

The thump occurs many times in one occurance depending on how bad the road is. It sounds like the left side but I can tell if its from the front or rear. It sounds like its under the seat.

Can someone point out what the most likely causes of this might be, I will jack it up tonight to investigate.

Same problems too... Clunks on speedbumps and rough road.

I had that happen in my Taurus and it needed new tierods.

 

how many miles???? I have the same noise too but started after my subframe install, rear control arm bushings....

 

Mine has done 38000 miles... just in the front.

 

Check your tranny mount. You can't always tell if it is broke by just looking at it. You have to get up under the car and push up on the driveshaft about a foot behind the mount towards the rear of the car.
