Here's what I just found on my '96 Z-28 with Pacesetter LTs.
The passenger side header worked it's way through and burned one of the wires of the ABS sensor on that side.

That's what caused my ABS INOP to trigger recently...

Well the ABS wire runs on the wall of the wheel well right past the out most header tube. And right where it's closest the jacket was burned crisp and the wires were definitely affected.

I noticed it after taking the engine out of the car to put on some LE2 heads and stuff, but the ABS INOP thing had just started happening like 1 week ago.

How was the light going on cause whats been happening is if the car is sitting they all go off once i start to drive the inop goes on and the brake and track light comes on and starts twitching like going on and off but not flashing it seems like there is a short some where but i haven't had time to check it because i have been working alot. Do you know any troubleshooting methods i can do to check to find the problem

You can try to check for error codes first, then you better start looking under the hood for burned wires...

My ABS INOP light just comes on and stays like that, no other lights come on.

Also I'm thinking look for brake fluid level and maybe have the whole brake system bleeded... maybe some bubbles in the ABS block are causing the commotion.

Good luck!

Ok i discovered the short I thought it might have been a sensor but the short is at the abs relay i changed the relay and it kept happening so i kinda started messing around with the fuse box and it stopped ticking and the lights went off .But every time i stopped touching the wires it would come back on and start flashing and ticking again. What should i go about this i have no idea what to do any suggestions would be appreciated
