Powerslot rotor warning

What were Powerslot rotors for the LT1 Camaro (Powerslot numbers were BRK-8249PSL [Left Rear] and BRK-8249PSR [right rear]) apparently are being replaced by a different product. It appears Powerslot has been captured by something called "centric". If you think you are ordering silver-cadmium plated, slotted rotors what they will send are rotors with black "hats". They are directional but the slotting is not the same as Powerslot ... it's shallower and shorter length. These substitutes appear to be centric $45-49 rotors with 6 short shallow slots that are then peddled fot $120 or higher. The box says centric on the back and the Powerslot website now identifies itself as part of centric. Buyer beware !!!
I won't mention the vendor since it seems all the vendors are being supplied with this "questionable alternate" ... I suspect others will call this deception a different name.
(I didn't want to double post but I think a copy or redirect of this should be in the "General F-Body Tech" section too)

I just went with NAPA smooth rotors on my car. Stops just fine. Took her through some twisties and lots of on/off braking. No fade, no problem.

Used to be an argument about slots and drills, that they lessened the actual gripping force because of the reduction in surface area, although venting those hot gases and cooling better. But if unvented gases don't prevent much problem, or your brakes arent' overheating and fading...then I guess it just might be a "looks cool" thing for most people.

I think pads make a more significant effect than drilled holes or slots on your rotors.

NO. The Powerslots up front were part of going from 11" rotors to 13" in the front and making a major improvement to the car's braking. It also eliminated the 1/2 second of no braking effect when driving at interstate speeds in moderate or heavy rain. I thought it might be a film of water built up on the surface of rotors from the spray and mist in the wheel wells and that slotted rotors might cast that film off. I don't have that braking delay anymore. I needed rears and wanted to match to the fronts with both pads and rotors.
I'm not into the "looks cool" that offends your "sensibilities". I posted this thread to warn LT1 people who were considering rear Powerslot rotors that they probably wouldn't receive what they thought they were ordering.
