vibration when braking?

i just took my car out of storage 94 z28. I took it for slow drive without heavy braking but noticed there was a shake or vibration when i applied the brakes. The brakes were perfect when i put it into storage but now after sitting for 6 months there seems to be something wrong with the brakes.

Everyone is going to say my rotors are warped, but i dont see how this can be since the breaks were perfect when i put it into storage, anyone have an ideas or suggestions to what would cause this. Also the abs light came on 5 minutes after taking it out and driving the car around.

Re: vibration when braking?

something with the brake lines/hoses possibly where its causing uneven pressure to one of the rotors

Re: vibration when braking?

The rotors probably got quite a bit of rust on them in storage. Has is all worn off yet?

I got the abs light off now but changing the brake light fuse which was burnt out.
Also the passenger side seems to be leaking brake fluid onto the tire from somewhere.

i wanted it in general so it would get more hits.

Re: vibration when braking?

check the bleed valve and caliper and banjo bolt to make sure they are tight,
usually if one side is brakeing and the other isnt it will pull. not vibrate.

Might work better for you, but it hurts the people who are posting correctly in that forum and having their posts forced to the bottom of the page by people posting incorrectly.

One other guideline you need to be aware of.... if you have a problem with the actions of a Moderator, you are supposed to take it up in a PM or e-mail, and not continue the discussion in the thread.

Re: vibration when braking?

Fix the leak and, as Injuneer stated, make sure all the rust is off the disc's, and they're nice and shiny. If they continue to vibrate you may consider getting after market disc's and pads. The LT1's are notorious for having bad brakes. Warping is just the term used to discribe any vibration in the brakes. They don't actually warp, 99% of the time. What happens is that pad material get deposited onto the brakes under hard braking and causes a pattern of different fiction levels on the disc. The next time you step on the brakes you get a grap/release, grab/release action causing vibration. This can happen at any time, so it doesn't really matter if it was perfect yesterday or not.
