Upgrading sway bar and basic susp. advice.
I'm thinking of the BMR because I have their panhard bar , lca's and stb and they are great quality. I'm concerned about the weight, but I'm the kind of guy that likes to do something only once. With the claimed memory retention on their cold formed solid bar, plus their great price and availability, it seems to be the one for me. - as long as it does not add too much additional weight. Say, 10 lbs or something unnoticable.. I plan on only replacing the front bar, btw.. With the other mods the front sway is definately showing it's weakness!!
I'm also curious as to when I should expect to need to replace my struts and shocks and what kind I should get that would be a little better (tighter) than stock, as well as very good quality for years of service. I mostly drag race and play slow in the corners, so extreme stuff may not be for me. Extremely reliable maybe, but not so extremely expensive.. I reserve that for the strip mods!!
It's a 95z by the way, with stock struts/shocks and 62 k miles.
Thanks

There might be some disagreement to what I'm going to say, but if you in fact have the factory deCarbon shocks, chances are they peter'd out after 30K miles...No lie!
RE: Replacing of shocks & springs, there are a few folks here who favor the 1/4 mile like you, hopefully they will chime in this thread in a few days. I do know that Eibach has drag shocks, and I think QA1 shocks are favored for the drag application, as well as REMOVING the front swaybar believe it or not.
Mind you, this is what I remember on other threads for best 1/4 mile suspensions, so good luck.

Thanks, - I notice you have the Straino 35mm hollow - how do you like it? Did you go from the stock one to this one or did you try others, or have you rode in other f-cars with other types? Thanks again. - By the way, I noticed you also are planning on the LCA's - I was really suprised when I installed mine and gave myself a kick for not doing it sooner.. I'll probably kick myself again for not changing the Sway bar sooner too!!

You know what EZ??? You have to decide what you want out your car, because THAT will determine what you need to do to your suspension. Having a car do great on the strip will not be so hot on the turns/handling. My car is setup for the twisties, period. That's what I wanted, and I have no regrets. I COULD try to compromise & have my car setup for both, but I would be compromising nonetheless.
THAT SAID, RE: swaybars, I learned on my 93 that having the 25mm solid rear was not a good idea, I did not like how easy it was to have the rear lose grip when accelerating out of a turn. It's FUN, fishtailing all over the place, but it wasn't a good idea.
Having the hollow 35mm front as opposed to the solid 35mm is not considerably different, the weight loss is pretty different though, I think the solid front is about 40lbs I think, the hollow is about 23-28lbs, so THAT makes a difference. Keep in mind that the hollow is more expensive as well. I am probably wrong with the weights, and I do remember that the difference was 12-17 lbs, you get the idea. Keeping the rear swaybar the factory 21mm allows the rear to stay planted better, so accelerating out of a corner is very do-able, she exits quick with minimal tire-spinning...GREAT!
Since I had experience with my 93, I knew that I was not going to skimp on the suspension this time, hence the Koni Single Adjustable & GC coilover springs & hollow 35mm front sway, all more expensive, overkill for street applications(some would say), and I couldn't be happier!
I still need to fine tune the shock settings, that's just fine by me, I got time, I ain't goin anywhere, and neither is the car.
I am going to install the LCA brackets, I know they will make a big diff regarding wheel hop and takeoff, so there you go.
Hope this helps.

Re: Upgrading sway bar and basic susp. advice.
I've seen somewhere where someone (who I believe knew their stuff) calculated the stiffness of a 35 solid, 35 hollow and 32 solid swaybar. The 35 hollow was similar in stiffness to the 32 solid (which is what BMR makes) but there is a significant weight difference.
I have the BMR and it is a huge improvement over the stocker. You will love whichever one you go with.

Any front sway thicker over factory will be wonderful.
Re: Upgrading sway bar and basic susp. advice.
Mitch is asking you a good question EZ, you said you want to work on your 1/4 mile setup, and if memory serves me, REMOVING the FRONT swaybar is most advantageous(sp?) for straight line performance...
Lower Control Arms & LCA brackets would help you tremendously, get rid of wheel hop and better initial traction as well.
