thump over bumps

thump over bumps

when i go over certain bumps, there is a thump on the front passengerside it feels like it is by the shock. what are some causes of this? thanks

Sounds like maybe a worn out control arm bushing or maybe even a tie rod end or ball joint. Go out and start yanking around on the front wheels and see if they move any. If they do, look to see where the movement is coming from.

should i jack the car up first and then try to jerk the wheel around? if the wheel does not move what could it be? thanks

jacking the car up will help you alot. If there is no movement anywhere....uhh...well...it must be something else.
Try getting someone to drive the car over a bump while you walk next to the car. You should be able to tell a little closer where it is coming from. Just dont get ran over.
