Swaybar Install help?!?
Swaybar Install help?!?
I had purchase a swaybar package from Strano, and had them installed by a local shop. 35mm/21mm. I watched and helped with the install, but when this guy installed it, he said that I didnt need any grease. I saw on the installuniversity that you have to grease the "D" bushings. If this isnt greased, will it cause more noise and less performace in any way? Should I just jack the car up and unmount it and grease it myself?? Thanks in advance. Btw I have a 2001 Z28 with new shocks, SFC, STB, and PHR. (if this helps)
Re: Swaybar Install help?!?
I would just grease them. I don't understand why they skipped over it in the first place. It takes so little effort to tear open a little package of grease and apply it to the bushings before putting on the swaybar.
Re: Swaybar Install help?!?
Hopefully you didn't pay them a whole lot for doing the install, and not doing it correctly. All the more reason to do the work yourself, particularly something really simple like sway bars.
Re: Swaybar Install help?!?
Yeah I really didnt pay much to have them do it. I should have done it myself. I got Marine Grease which was recommended on another thread. i hope this stuff works great. When i re-grease them, do I have to completely remove the "D" bushing off the bar and grease them? Thanks for the info and it just shows how certain business fail do to stupid mistakes..
Re: Swaybar Install help?!?
Yup...pull the bushing (that thing your refering to as the D-ring). Put a nice coating of grease, preferrebly a non-petroleum based synthetic grease, and slip them back on.
Periodically, regrease.
