Cool Spohn Upper/lwr. A Arms Rod End Problems?

Developed gradually a "NOISE" after car's been driving city speed for a while. It is a boxy rattle very pervasive the more I drive. Mechanic told me
1st Rotors had to be replaced ,did so, no difference, except for my Bank
acct. then after some more test driving, had it dow to Upper A arms
chrome-molly rod ends, so phone Steve Spohn bought 4 of those @ $150
(INC> shippind , plus $400 for install. Bill so far = $1200. ( I am musician
not mechanic). My mechanic now thinks is the lower A Arms. After new
Upper arms with rod ends were installed noise disappeared for few days, but came back with a vengeance. I bought the whole top line package from
Spohn. should not have problems after 2 yrs., not raced etc. I'd very mucy
appreciate anyone having had similar problems give me a ding, cause only
thing I can see sofar is to replace both upper and lower A arms and ball joints.installed. etc. all other parts in front part of engine have been eliminated.

If the problem is noise then I would suspect it is the rod ends. I expect rod ends to make noise. Certainly the most expensive ones have better clearances and maintain those clearance better than cheaper ones, but ultimately due to their design they will make noise or need to be replaced. If excess noise bothers you than rubber mounts are the best bet for you, polyurethane might also be acceptable. Hard mounts such as rod ends or even polyurethane might also enhance road vibrations.

what sort of noise is it? clunking? screeching? whining? that might help us better understand what might be making noise.

The roded ends are great for handling but bad or road noise and vibes. I have a buddy who had it, than took it all out for rubber.

He also had the BMR front suspension(upper+lower a arms, etc) and hated it. Took it out, had the factory sand blasted and re installed it.
