Should i have taken this out??

I removed what i thought was just a shield for the stock I-pipe, when i did my long tube install because it was damaged. Looked like someone drove over a curb at one time.

I just came across this shield on BMR website. IT turns out, its a tunnel brace, which reinforces your floorpan and driveshaft tunnel.

Am i the only moron to do this or is this no big deal?

Should I pick up one of these tunnel braces?

And would this affect the traction, or performance of my car?

I have read lots of posts of people not using the tunnel brace. It is fairly flimsy, anyway. It might keep your driveshaft from hitting the ground after a catastrophic front u-joint failure.

LOL.

Hey shoe box, would you recommend getting a bmr tunnel brace, or even welding one up myself.
I don't want anything slowing me down.

Nice thing about the Spohn front TA mount.... it bolts a fairly beefy steel bar to the stock tunnel brace pads, and incorporates a DS loop. And it clears a 4" IM pipe, with long tubes (which I used to run).
