I've used the Lisle McPherson Strut Compressor PN 62300 McPherson Strut Tool. The instructions specifically mention it is NOT for spring removal, but it worked fine on the 4th Gen spring/shock assembly. Looks similar to the one you linked, except the clips actually u-bolt to the spring coils, so they can’t pop off, and can’t start to slip around the spring coils. I put the clamps 5 coils apart on the stock spring, and compressed the spring until it fell loose. After removing the spring, I was able to fully decompress the spring, with about one-inch of threads left on the big compressor bolts.
