Question Spohn TA

I've been running a Spohn TA, (frame mount), for quite a good while. I also have a Moser 12 bolt. In case you didn't know the TA bolts to the moser using 1" length bolts, they are not through the whole "rear end" housing like the stock set up. Even Spohn thinks the Moser setup leaves a lot to be desired. Anyways I've always had the problem of these bolts vibrating back out and getting loose. Easy to tell when they get loose because the TA get's pretty noisy when this happens.

I'm thinking of just having the rear bracket of Spohn welded to the housing. I could still remove the TA by popping out a couple of bolts. The weld job looks like it would be pretty straightforward, two beads along the seam where the bracket meets up with the rear end housing.

What do you guys think of this idea?

Its a bad idea. try thread locker or weld the bolt but dont weld it to the rear

I had the same problem. I took a hammer to the threads of the bolts just on two sides so that they will grab and not back out so far so good.

no welding parts together unless they are meant to be. bad idea. just get lock washers or lock nuts, that or the red thred lok...it's goo stuff. makes it so it requires an additional 50 pounds of tq to remove. and it doesnt vibrate loose.

Re: Spohn TA

Thanks for the replies. What I did was grind enough off of the Moser so that I can install and aircraft locking nut on one of the top bolts. I got a longer grade 8 bolt so that the top bolt closest to the front of the rear end will now go "through" the rear end. FWIW I've been using red loc-tite the whole time. Didn't matter, bolts still wanted to work out.

Yeah, I've been having this problem. I just check it every so often between events. It's one of those things I've learned to live with.
