rubbing problem

Been a while since I have posted on here but I have a problem.

I have a 2001 Camaro that I replaced some parts on and bought new rims and tires. I replaced the driver's side rear rotor, all the lug bolts for that wheel, and got new z06 rims (17 x 9.5) with 275 40 17 tires. Ok, so I do all the work myself and get everything back together. The fit of the rims is fine with nothing rubbing or even getting that close.

I pull it out of the garage and take it down the road and notice a rubbing noise coming from the drivers side rear wheel. I pull it back into the garage and notice that the brake pads are up tight on the rotor and there are marks all the way around the new rotor like the pads are rubbing it pretty hard.

There are no grooves or cutting into the rotor that I can notice. Is this something that will go away or did I do something wrong? Was I supposed to compress the caliper before putting it all back together? I dont really want to take it somewhere if this is something that will go away. I just need to know if this is normal. Thanks.

Why did you need to replace just that one rotor? Did you verify the caliper piston is free to move, and is not resisting returning into the caliper because of corrosion?

It is a long story that boils down to messed up lug bolts and damaged rotor.

And how do I verify the caliber piston is free to move? Are you talking about taking the pads off? Sorry I am not that knowledgeable about the brakes and think I might not have taken this on.

update:
So, I took it all back apart today and compressed the piston in the caliper. When I put the caliper back on, there was plenty of room with slight movement back and forth on the caliper. I pumped the brakes a few times and the pads were back up against the rotor again.

I took it for a drive down the street, and the grinding is still there. I am not seeing anything else that could be causing the grinding so I am at a lost.

I jacked up both sides of the rear and spun the wheels and of course heard no grinding.

So, I dont know what to do next.
