Replacing rear shocks, help inside

Few Questions

1) Will getting higher quality perfomance shocks help me plant/launch any better? I'm only asking because 1 is leaking bad and making a lot of noise while driving and hitting any slight bump. I was looking to just get stock replacments.

2) Do I need to replace both of them? IM pretty sure only 1 is bad.

3) To replace them do I just jack up the rear take out the top/ bottom bolts of the shock and pound it out w/ a hammer, then replace?

Here is what autozone has, Im looking to getthe Gabriel Ultra ones, mainly because I dont want cheap 16$ shocks:
GABRIEL_GUARDIAN
SHOCK 81481 LLT $15.99

GABRIEL_ULTRA 69676 LLT $23.99

GABRIEL_MAX_CONTROL
MONOTUBE SHOCK 75676 LLT $59.99
*** FOR THE ULTIMATE RIDE EXPERIENCE ***

GABRIEL_HI_JACKERS
AIR ADJUST SHOCKS 49203 LLT $61.99

BILSTEIN
HEAVY DUTY RIDE BE5-2407 LLT $89.99

Shocks are always replaced in pairs (left and right side). Shouldn't need to do any pounding to remove the shocks. The bottom nut is removed. You need to pull back the carpet in the rear seat area to get access to the top nut.

The Bilsteins you have listed there are a little more money but will offer you the best handling though in my opinion.

Advance had a special on Monroe shocks, mine were scrap, so I bought a set of the sensa-tracs for the back and gasmatics for the front.

4 shocks for less than $200 bucks was pretty good for a daily driver, I thought. I don't have money falling out of my butt, I'm not club racing so, I don't need $1000 bucks worth of Koni shocks or whatever the hot brand of the week is.

I posted that on LS1Tech and immediately got ripped on by a site sponsor that sells the $800 buck Konis.
