rear strut bar?
rear strut bar?
does anyone know if any companies make a rear strut bar for our cars? are the front and rear spaced out the same like could u use a front strut bar for the rear? if anyone knows please pm me, thanx
Re: rear strut bar?
No one makes a "rear strut bar" for a 4th Gen F-Body, because there are no "struts" on a 4th Gen, front or rear. The only thing you could connect in the rear of the 4th Gen (or a 3rd Gen for that matter) would be the upper shock mounts, and you would be wasting your time, because there are no real lateral loads on those points, and they are already connected side-to-side by the complete rear deck.
A "strut" style suspension may need some lateral support at the top, because the top ot the strut carries substantial vertical and lateral loads, but the top shock mounts in a live-axle, torque arm style rear suspension carry little in the way of loads - vertical or lateral.

Re: rear strut bar?
there's one out there...dont remember who made it but it's also a seat belt mount for racing seatbelts....wouldnt use it though. if you're serious enough to want a 5-point harness then fork out the money in a 6 point roll cage...or better. check the suspension for sale section on the board
