Rear spring mount

Ok, so I was doing some work on the back of my car and noticed that there is no rubber isolation mount under the rear coil springs of my car. It looks like the springs are just fitting around a small raised piece on top of the axle.

Is this right or have I lost a mount for my springs?

Re: Rear spring mount

You can download a free copy of the 94 factory manual, good reference for questions like this:

LINK: 4TH GEN SERVICE MANUALS - Firebird Nation

Or, if you don't want to do that, Nalley has the factory parts diagrams:

SUSPENSION/REAR. Fits: Camaro, Firebird, FORMULA, TRANS AM | Nalley Buick GMC Brunswick

Re: Rear spring mount

I'm going to replace the rear springs on my '95 Z28. I see they're not coil overs. Any tips or gotchas I should know? Is it as simple as compress the spring, remove and reverse with new spring?

Re: Rear spring mount

Don't even need to compress the spring. Support chassis by jack stands, unbolt lower shock bolt, lower rear axle slowly. Springs will fall out.

Re: Rear spring mount

Excellent! I'm replacing the shocks so I can do it all at once.
