Thats what I figured but how does it work? What would happen if you removed it? Vibration when you brake?

Try hacksawing thru it when you do LCA relocation brackets.....

I removed them for weight reduction, and I haven't noticed any unusual vibrations when the brakes pull the car down from 125+ MPH trap speeds......

I also removed mine with no problems yet. Not sure exactly of their purpose.

I am completely lost as to what you guys are talking about. I just replaced rear brakes about a week ago too. Maybe I'm a nutcase. Can anyone explain?

OIC. I always thought it was something to do with the E brake. I guess since they were both on the same bracket. Thanks for the pic.
