QA1 spring question
QA1 spring question
i have KYB gas shocks and eibach springs. Both fairly new. I said hell with looks i want to aim for 1/4 mile times and i have a pretty good set up as far as the rest of the suspention upgrade. Spohn TA, moser 9" 4:33 gears, subframe, controlarms, etc... only thing lacking is sway bar upgrade
Now to get better weight transfer, would QA1 spring help out a lot up front without the QA1 shocks. I cant afford the shocks right now and have decided to either go back to stock springs, or V6 springs(upfront).
What would be good for the rear? With the moser in the rear the height was increased ever so slightly so it doesn't squat as much anymore and fear if i return to the stock springs it will sit up a lot further and look funny.
Would QA1 front springs and eibach rear spring work alright?
Right now i'm getting little traction with drag radials. I think my suspention is too tight and not enough weight transfer.

The QA1 drag springs that are made for the QA1 4th Gen coil-over shocks are a much smaller diameter than the stock or Eibach springs. You would probably have to make up a new lower spring seat, or an adapter of some sort, if the QA1's would even fit over the KYB's.
In the back, a V6 spring might give you a good ride height, and have the compliance necessary for good weight transfer. I run the Eibach drag launch springs in the back, and they raised the back end up about 1/2" more than stock. Looks OK with the 28" slicks, but with street tires it sits way too high.

i was afraid of that. Would i be better off with my stock springs? To be honest i'm waiting for the slicks to come in and go tot the track and see what happens before i do anything to the suspension. I'm just going on what happened last year.
A friend of mine is pulling 1.31-sec 60-fts with a 3,530# 30th SS convertible. He is using my Formula rear springs (I traded him for the Eibach drag launch springs) and QA1/HAL's in the back. The car hooks unbelievably (8.76@160MPH, and never lifts the front wheels more than an inch off the track.)
He has Afco double adjustable front shocks and springs, and tuning the "bounce" out of the front end has proved extremely difficult.

will the stiffness of the fron spring hinder my take off. Also would the stiffness also hinder the rear, although the angle(heigth) of the rear is also different. The rear is very close to stock heigth. I need to measure a stock car, but if the heigth is more towards the stock # woudl the stiffness of the springs be problem of ripping good 60 ft times?
