QA1 install pictures

I was wondering if anyone ever took pics of there QA1 install. I have read that one install write up, i think it was Injuneer's. Well anyway its a good write up and all but I kinda need to see pics. Also i just got these crush bearings that are supposed to make the height adj easier. Where do I actually put these? Does it replace any part that QA1 gives me or is it an add on?
Thanks
Omar

What kind of pictures are you after? I have a couple shots of the stock shock/spring supports disassembled, and an assembled QA1 with and without the compressor on it.

Just remember.... those are the Eibach springs, and modified stock seats, not the QA1 springs that fit directly on the QA1 seats.

Are you talking about the little thin roller bearings that QA1 now supplies with the shocks? That thin bearing goes between the stainless steel ring that goes immediately under the spring, putting it between the stainless ring and the seat. I did that on a set of shocks for a friend of mine.

Ya those pics help, cause now i kinda get the jist of where things go. I read your instructions and they are great. I think i just need pics to go with the words.lol. Ya those bearing thigns also come with some washer looking deal. I think its like one bearing and two washers for each side. So that ribbed circle piece goes under the spring seat and the bearings go between the ribbed piece and spring seat?
Another question. When you do adjust the front height how do you keep both sides the same height? Do you eyball it or is there some other way of knowing?
Thanks
Omar

I used a tape measure to check the distance from the start of the threads to the bottom of the adjuster when I set the ride height on each side. Using the QA1 springs required moving the spring really high up on the shock to get close to stock ride height.

If you look at the 3rd picture in the list above, there is both a stock shock with seat and an assembled QA1 shock in the picture. I set the seat height on the QA1 the same as the seat height on the stock shock, and the same height on both sides. It didn't come out exactly as planned though..... the Eibach Pro-Kits dropped the front end 1.8", which is more than they are supposed to drop it.

To get things back to the height I wanted, I made sure I moved the adjusters the same number of turns on both side, and verified with a tape measure after I was done.

THanks for the help guys. Injuneer those pics help me out a good bit. WHen i read your instructions i thought this job was gonna be crazy. I can see from the pic its not that bad. It looks as if the hardest part is taking the stock ones out, and then just putting the whole assembly back in. I have the BMR springs which are supposedly only an inch drop.
What i dont understand about this setup is how the handling isnt changed being the springs are moved up and down. Doesnt that add more pressure to the spring since its compressed more then if it was used on a normal setup? What happens if I raise the front end higher then what the actual spring allows? The same for if i go lower then what the spring allows?

When did they start including the bearings? I just got a set about a week ago and they didn't include the bearings.

When you get your done could you post some pick with them installed ... I also bought the BMR lowering springs and will get the QA1 shock to go with them . I hoped that the BMR springs would fit on the QA1 shocks .

Well i dont know if you wanna wait on me to take pics. I try to go home every other weekend to work on my car, so it might be awhile but sure as soon as i get it done ill take pics and show you. The BMR springs will fit you just have to get modify your spring seats or get a set from thunder or bmr. Thunder modifies the stock spring seat and i think BMR makes there own. I think you can also get BMR to powdercoat the color you want.

Regarding the bearings i dont think they come with the kit but you can buy them. I got mine from Finish Line Performance. Under GP price it was like 32bucks, normal is around 40. They charge out the *** for shipping though. For bearings that probably weighed ounces they had a 10dollar charge.

For any spring that is the same diameter as the stock springs - e.g. Eibach, etc. - you need the modified stock spring seats, to fit on top of the QA1 seats. The last picture in my earlier post shows how they fit. Shoebox cut his off with a hacksaw. A buddy of mine chucked them in a lathe and cut them.
