Proportioning valve sensor?
Proportioning valve sensor?
I was tinkering today with my car, getting a few loose ends finished up from my build. My "brake " light and "abs" light have been on for some time now. Before I parked the car for 3 years, I had accidentally connected the grounds that go to the ground stud on the strut tower to the 12 voly studs on the shock tower. i drove the car ike that for a couple of days, and then realized the problem. Now, I'm paying for my idiocy. I was going through the GM manual's DTC fix list for DTC 87 which the car was throwing (open brake circuit). I found that the connector that plugged into the proportioning valve had slightly melted on the inside, leaving behind some melted plastic (very little) inside the sensor on the combo brake valve sensor. I cleaned the sensor out, but the code is still being thrown.
Do you think the sensor fried while I had the ground backwards? Is that a sensor that is replacable, or am I looking at the whole ABS motor to be replaced? Thanks for the help guys, it would be nice to have ABS working on the car again!!
