Parking brake stopped working

after i put on my new rotors and pads the parking brake decided to stop working. It never really worked well in the first place but to make it work you had to push the regular brake all the way down then pull it up pretty high. Ive just been putting it in gear to hold it still and ive been doing this for about a week. is that bad to do?

how can i adjust the parking brake to make it start working again?

Seriously though, leaving the car in gear to park it is no problem. A lot of people park their cars that way. Just don't forget to take it out of gear before letting that clutch out!

When I replaced my rear rotors I did my best to adjust it prior to putting the rotor back on. What I did was put it on and off untill I got it on and spinning with no noise. Then I sat in the car and pulled the ebrake numerous times untill it was tight. The ebrake has an auto adjustment on mine. I have a 2000 SS.

The parking brake is independent of the regular brakes. It's similar in design to a drum brake, with inside pads pushing outward on the inside hub of the rotor. Pull off the rear rotors and inspect everything there. You might have something off.

Question, when you pulled the old rear rotors, did you have the parking brake applied at all?
