palnning suspension....

ive been tossing around the idea of upgrading parts on my car and have decided to do most if not all of the suspension before i beef up the motor....

im not completely sure on what im goign to do with the motor at this point... but id like to have parts that can be used with multiple applications....

so what im asking is what are good brands, what parts shold i go with, and the order i should do them in....

thanks for any input

Dan

Re: palnning suspension....

BMR, Spohn and Hotchkis are some of the better/best brands. Bmr + Spohn are about the same.

Start w/ LCA's, Shock Tower Bar and Subframe connectors. SFC's are not a MUST, but they help a lot to stiffen the car.

After that it's gets a bit more involved and complicated. Well, some. Shox and springs are a great upgrade, but are a bit tricky to do. When you do the S+S's you'll HAVE to do LCA relocation brackets and an Adjustable panhard bar.

Sway bars, If you really want. The stiffer rear sway will help you launch straighter on the 1/4. I've been wanting to do them for a while, myself.

Torque Arm helps better transfer power, but is expensive and you don't really need it too much unless you're going to be at the track a lot.

Those are about the basics... And yeah, are you amin' for 1/4 or all around street/strip performance?

Look into UMI performance parts all my suspension parts that I have are UMI and I have compared them side by side with my buddies BMR stuff and they look identical besides the stickers. UMI doesn't carry everything ie sway bars and a few others but they have most of the chasis stuff that you will be looking for.

Let them know where you heard about them. I have been trying to send them business but no one seems to what to check them out. Let me know what you decide.

I would go for some SFC's they really stiffened up my suspension. Then I will go for some LCA's and an adjustable panhard bar. Just for starters then go with some springs and shocks best mod for the money.

Yeah I have heard some good stuff from UMI. Take the SFC's for example. Bolt on SLP SFCs are 360 bucks. But UMI SFCs are 270 bucks. I think would try to stay away from SLP because there stuff is pretty expensive and rather basic. Edelbrock also has some good stuff but some people say it is pretty cheap. But I have had no problems so far with the edelbrock stuff, just make sure you have the right application. Yeah start out with SFC's and probaply STB just to make the car safer.

For traction don't overlook a poly torque arm mount. cut .3 of my 60ft! Just had LCAs before.

Re: palnning suspension....

wow your poly torque arm mount really took or .3 off your 60'. That seems hard to believe.

^^... yeah. I've seen an add somewhere of a 4th gen LS1 car lifting the front wheels w/ justlid, LT's, Catback, and a FULL suspension.. I think it was a BMR add for their TQ arm, actually.
