no brakes!!!

ok I was driving on highway 2 days ago. brakes just let go, the pedal goes all the way down to the carpet barly stopping the car. so I took off the front right caliper. and the rubber was ripped so I bought a new one, thinking that it was frozen.tried bleeding the brakes. and no fluid comes out. like theres no fluid goingtothe brake system, if anyone has an idea what this could be I appreciate the help

Re: no brakes!!!

To bleed the brakes you need to bleed the ABS unit first. If there was an active code in the EBCM (electronic braking control module), and there would have been if you lost all pressure in the system, or pressure in either the front or rear hydraulic circuits, you have to "home" the electronic brake motors with a Tech-2 before you can bleed the individual calipers.

Sort of surprising you didn't have the"BRAKE" light active on the dash. To lose the brakes completely, you would have to lose both the front and rear hydraulic systems. It would be odd to lose both systems at the same time. Losing just one system would turn on the "BRAKE" light, but leave you with at least partial braking.

Re: no brakes!!!

yea myfriend ended up checking it out. he says its the master cylinder. I really don't know, so hes gonna take a look at it tommorow thx for the help. I just don't wanna be buying parts for nothing, yea and there are no brake lights on.. so I don't know . the car was fine for years it just lost the brakes out of the blue, theres no leaks anywhere. and it was professionally bled when the brake were done.
