New Pads, now "ABS inop" light....

Unhappy New Pads, now "ABS inop" light....

I recently threw some new pads on my front brakes...not too long after the install I noticed the ABS Inop light come on.

I didn't bleed the system afterwards, so I am thinking that is the next step. But I just read a post saying once the ABS Inop light is on, you shouldn't bleed the brakes???

Can anyone offer some insight?

Check the ABS connector at each hub. You may have knocked one loose.

cChecked connectors, nothing was loose. I also just bled the brakes and the light is still on....

Perhaps while working around there you knocked the reluctor out of whack.

you don't need to bleed the brakes after replacing pads, you just knocked something loose or disconnected something by accident

If you had a problem with air in the lines, requiring bleeding, the "BRAKE" light would have been on, not the "ABS INOP" light. 90% of the ABS INOP problems are related to the wheel sensors.

I had the same problem. I even tripled checked all my connections, and couldn't find it, and then a few months later, what do you know, I found a disconnected sensor. Trace the wires from the sensor as far as you can until it connects into the wiring harness. Something is probably not connected. just my own 2 cents.

When you put the new pads on did you push the plunger on the caliper all the way back into the caliper?? I have had this happen several times when working on customer's cars. When you push that plunger in all the way on the newer ABS equipped cars you will get an ABS light.

Mine did the same thing, and I have been running with an abs inop light for months now. I replaced one wheel sensor, and no luck. I need to replace the other anyways and hopefully that fixes it.
