My rear suspension

My rear suspension squeaks a little when i go over sharp bumps... Before i got the car it had been sitting somewhere for quite a long time.. What might my problem be?

Dried up bushings/joints most likely.

If it is your bushings, I would remove or loosen everything that has a bushing but doesnt have a grease joint and lube it with some lithium grease. (top/bottom/contact points) Everything that does have a grease joint, top off the grease on each. You can also take a rubber heater hose or fuel line and use it as a stethascope to listen while a friend bounces your suspension. This would work before, and after.

Why only 1% of people here have haynes manuals, I'll never know. Invest it one, it will solve most simple questions like this in the FAQ.

Points to lubricate:

lower control arms F/B sides
Sway bar bushings
Sway bar end-links
Shock Bushings
Panhard rod L/R sides
Spring perches where the bottom coil sets
(also can stick some garden hose on the bottom)

Aquire the tourque specs for each bolt/screw/nut, and jack the car up in the rear, locate the points above, looosen/remove, lube the bushings involved and re-torque.

Or if this is intimidating, most service shops offer a chassis lubrication at a descent cost. The better ones will make sure the joints are greased and the bushings squeak free.

Or use the hose to locate the exact location and repair/replace the offending piece(s)

If one of these doesn't work, give me your car. I'll find it a good home.

The rear springs tend to squeak right where they sit on the bottom metal perches. Just put some grease where the spring sits on the perch and that will take care of it.
