Moog front springs?

Looking for feedback on Moog 60114 and 60116.

Spohn sells the 60116 and touts them as "SS" springs.

Any application catalog lookup indicates 60114.

What have you used and what's your feedback?

Thanks,
Charlie

Ask Steve Spohn the question on his tech line.

Good idea. I just sent an email via their online form. Will call on Monday to follow up.

Re: Moog front springs?

Well the Spohn tech line responded with,
"The ride height is the same, the SS springs are just a bit stiffer for better handling performance."

I questions that hard as per Moog specs.;
60116 and 60114 are both 290 lb/in spring rate.

60116 has a free height of 15.21
60114 has a free height of 14.88

That's why I was looking for real world feedback.

It appears the 60114 will sit slightly lower.
Question is which one is stock ride height.

Re: Moog front springs?

Maybe someone can address this based on hands-on, but there seems to be less than a dozen people left on this site that can provide meaningful responses. Agree the Spohn response does not make sense.

There would be an installed height difference of 1/3”, but the installed height depends on the weight of the car. Moog apparently seems to feel the SS (60116) is heavier than the Z28 (60114).

I wonder if this has to do with the posi option. Do you know if all Z28's had this?

All V8 cars from 1993 on had a posi rear (G80), or do you mean the SS Torsen option? The weight of the rear axle assembly is not supported by the springs. Even if it had any effect, it would be the rear springs.

Re: Moog front springs?

That is what I was thinking. I am just trying to imagine what other things in the rear could be a different weight. Were all V8 cars rear disc? Do you think traction control would add anything noticeable?

I wouldn't think the axel weight would impact the springs either. Were the springs changed with the Bilstien package?
