LS1 Brakes or C5's or Willwoods, maybe Baers on my Lt1?

I know from research and posts that all will noticeably increase braking ability and peace of mind if you really need to stop. Seems that the LS1's can be had pretty cheap on ebay?. Does this includes spindles and calipers usually?? I have read people having problems buying bent spindles causing stuff to get FUBARed. Does anyone have the spindle p/n's if I wanted to buy new? I found everything else in a previous post.

For the C5's, is it worth the additional cost ($779 for stock or $969 for powerslot rotors from UMI) over the LS1? Its a bigger rotor right? I read on fbody.com people not happy with the UMI brackets and supposedly someone by the name of Bob makes them better-true?

If spending this much should I just go with a Willwood or Baer kit?

I would really like opinions if anyone has them and has actually ridden with vehicles equipped with the above brake packages and can really compare them. Thanks a million.

What are your goals? The LS1 setup is very nice for a daily driver. What kind of rims do you have? You must have at least 17in rims to make the C5's work.

I run the C5 kit and I am very happy, it is the UMI brackets with power slots with about 10,000 miles on them.

Its not that people are not happy with the brackets, its people assuming they will fail. A few people on a autox site think the brackets wouldn't hold up, buy reading fbody.com it gets turned into people not being happy with them, false. Thats how easy rumors get spread. I have not read a failure to date, has anyone else?

I have 17" rims AFS ZR1 style. Goals are basically improved stopping with a min of the LS1 setup. If people say there is a good improvement stepping up to the C5's or Baers over the LS1 I would more carefully consider those.

I'm sure the C5 is much better than the LS1 setup but the LS1 setup can be had so cheap and it has great results. I got my setup off ebay and just cleaned and painted them. The pads and rotors were in great shape so i just reused them and all it cost me was $165 shipped. Thats hard to beat, the C5 setup is gonna cost a lot more than that.

$165 That is awesome. So did that include the spindles as well?

That was everything needed to do it. Trust me the stock LS1 setup is 10x better than the stock LT1 setup. The C5 setup would cost at least $500

Re: LS1 Brakes or C5's or Willwoods, maybe Baers on my Lt1?

Sounds like the LS1 set is the way to go for what I need. I may upgrade to some powerslot dimpled/slotted though. Maybe some braided lines as well. I have heard two things on the lines though. Do I need LS1 or LT1 lines for this setup? Also does anyone know the p/n for the spindles if I end up buying those new? I just have reservations throwing junkyard part on my car if I have to go the ebay route.

And also I have never messed with brakes. How hard is it to swap the LS1 full assy over to an LT1? Thanks for the input.

If you end up going and buying new rotors, spindles and steel lines you pretty much take all the economy out of the LS1 setup.
