lowering 2000 SS

I want to lower my 2000 SS. I'm going to go with eibach sportline 1.6inches in the front and 1.4 in the back. Can some one walk me through how to do it? also, do I NEED anything else like new shocks? And do I need a suspension shop to put the spring and shock together?

Jack up car and pull wheels obviously, First unbolt the two bolts holding the shock to the lower a-arm, than unbolt the bolts and nuts on the top of the shock tower. To get the spring assembly apart you need to compress the springs. You can rent a set of spring compressors from autozone if you dont own a set yourself. The nut holding the assembly together is usually rusted pretty bad, use a good penatrating oil and if that doesent work use heat. Compressing springs can be dangerous so caution should be taken. The back is really simple just unbolt the shocks from the rearend and than drop the rear end down while the car itself is on jackstands than pull the springs out. When lowering a car alot of other things should be changed including the shocks. The panhard bar should be replaced with an adjustable one to recenter the rear end, along with adjustable control arms and relocation brackets. You need to decide what the purpose of the car is before selecting shocks and springs, than you should do some research or talk to someone who deals with suspensions all the time like sam strano. Otherwise you could have a car thats looks cool but doesent handle great or even comfortable to drive. hope this helps

Ignore the parts that are specific to the QA1/HAL shocks.

I would get (1st) shocks, (2nd) lca relocation brackets, and (3rd) a adjustable PHB.

Also I'd (4th) remove the rear bump stop spacers.

Items in bold do at a absolute minimum!
