Power steering issue

I tried to search but I seem to have a couple of different potential issues.

About 2 weeks ago I notice it seemed I was turning the steering wheel alot further than usual. It was raining that day so I thought maybe it was just the tires on the water, but it continues like that. I checked the power steering fluid and it was OK.

Last Friday it was really cold and my wife and I ran to the store and as I slowed and turned into the parking spot I felt something wasn't right suddenly. I pulled in, put the camaro in park and began turning the wheel. My power steering was gone. I checked the fluid again and this time it was low and I had some in the car so I added it and it was fine (though it still seems to have the extra play in it).

Now it's going "iffy" om me. Sometimes it's stiff like there's no power steering, but usually it had the play in it.

It doesn't whine or anything.

The fluid level looks the same as it did after I added some Friday.

I sat out there a bit ago and just turned the wheel for a few minute to see of I was leaking under pressure or something, but when I popped the cap I had a nice POP from the pressure buildup and the fluid looked the same.

Ideas?

Oh...fwiw I had four new tires put on a month ago and the suspension checked and they said for a 15 year old Camaro it looked really really good under there.

With all of those muscles you don't need power steering

I would get the system flushed. There might be some contamination in the system clogging and unclogging. Make sure your belt is tight and in good shape as well.
