Question LCA's, really necisarry?

I always hear people on the forums saying. "Get some LCAs!" Well I was wondering WHY? I mean if you have stock lower control arms with poly bushings and lower control arm relocation brackets. Why do you need new LCA's? I've never heard of any breaking or anything and I've heard of people running into the low 11's or faster with them. Just wonering why everyone always makes them sound like a must?

they do tend to flex a bit. you want your suspension parts to be rigid as can be. also you can get double adjustable to help clear taller tires. also you can get offset lca's to help clear wider tires. hope this helps.

I think most of the flexing comes from the soft rubber bushings. If you upgrade to poly bushings you'll notice a big difference. The Same with replacing your oem torque arm bushing with a stiffer one.

Eventually you may want to upgrade -- depending on your goals though.

Re: LCA's, really necisarry?

by the time you buy the bushings, remove and install them on the stock lca's, and probably break the stock bolts doing it, it becomes easier just to spend 100 bucks on some tubular lca's that already come with poly bushings installed on them and new hardware for installation. if you have strong hands, you can twist the stock lca's and panhard rod easily when off the car. hell, i can easily twist my stock panhard rod on the car! for 100 bucks, you get all that in one package...much easier than way.

Well I have me a set of Hotchkis Boxed LCAs but I never put them on my car because these things weigh a ton! Their about 20lbs each. Isn't that overkill? lol

I used the Hotchkis LCAs for 10 years and tons of 1.6-1.7 60's, Now I switched to C/M rod ended Spohn and went 1.55s on little radials. The new Bogart M/T radial combo should get me in the 1.4s...Don't worry so much about weight in the rear. The Hotchkis pieces are very stout and work well. Overkill is a good thing...

I replaced mine because I managed to bend the right rear substantially.

i made mine with aluminum rod and rod ends/bushings. weight about 2 lbs less than stock...each. clear more tires and looks much better with the z06 wheels showing all the suspension/brakes. polish them up like chrome when i want to.
