LCA Replacement, Stock or...

I replaced my pass side LCA about 2 years ago because the bushings were loose - and it was creaking like an old rocking chair. Now the driver side is headed down the same road. Basically, I am looking for an opinion on replacing the driver side with a stock unit, or picking up these on Ebay.

My suspension is completely stock - so I don't want a negative effect on ride - but when I see grease fittings I tend to think no more creaking....
Can anyone offer an opinion??

go for it, 66 bucks is cheap, yes since they are greaseable they are less likely to squeak, it seems like a great idea to me

That is a really good price, I would go for it.

You do realize that you can replace just the bushings instead of the whole LCA....right?

The way it reads, you replaced the whole LCA because a bushing was worn.

I did. I had read that cost vs trouble trying to press new bushings in - just replace the LCA. Have you actually replaced bushings - who did you get to press them in?

As far as the Granatelli lower control arms, does anyone here actually have them? Their website says to expect more "road noise". My car is a daily driver - so I don't want it objectionable.

I never noticed any more road noise from LCA install. I have BMR LCA's but their really isn't much of a difference.

Just a note if you're a stickler for handling... poly/poly lcas may be a bad idea. LCA's need to rotate when cornering, soft bushings allow that but poly is stiff and could cause bind. I don't know if anyone ever experimented to find out if it's an issue or not... but based on the geometry it certainly could be. When I did the bushings on my car I only replaced one of the bushings in each lca... rod ends would be even better but at the time I didn't have the $$$. I

Dave hit it on the head. Don't get poly/poly LCA's if you want the car to handle.

Unless your going with the ol rubber mount stock bushings, you will experience more road noise. I have rod ends on my spohns and I'm about to put speaker sound deading material back there. I hear everything going on under my car now. That add the zerk fittings so that the grease will have them move and not squeak, but that dries out after time, and binding will occure. That price is up to $73, your 40 away from a good set of spohns.

Ya, I popped mine out of my stockers and my tubulars. Not difficult at all. Just hand tools at the most.
