If the e-brake is out of adjustment....

Would that affect normal braking? Still trying to diagnose a problem with my rear brakes. When the rear of the car is in the air and I press the brake pedal, I can't get the wheels to stop. I have no leaks from the calipers whatsoever. I read in an earlier post from searching that if the e-brake is out of adjustment, it can cause your pads to wear unevenly.

My e-brake has never been adjusted in the 11 years I've owned the car. But I've replaced pads in the front and rear several times.

Any advice would be appreciated...
