How To: Changing rear control arms

Where is the best place to jack the car up to change the rear control arms out?

I'd like to do it by the rear axle.

Thats how I did it, I jacked up the car up by the rearend, but then put some jack stands under the chassis and supported the car on those. I then used the jack stand to adjust the rearend by bringing it up and down to line up the control arms and get the bolts thru.

i personally put the jack stand just past the LCA on the sub frame. and then used the jack under the rear end to move it around. much like GTP said. Only problem i ran into was getting the bolts out of the Sub frame side. They fought me for quite a while. Other then that its a fairly straight forward install.

That was the worst part for me. I had to soak them with a rust penetrant and let them sit for a couple hours. Then out came the breaker bar and away they went.

Ok day two of this install.

Theoretically this should have been one of the easiest things ive done to he car...but those bolts fought me for HOURS.

I finally got them off, but getting the new CAs in is just as much of a bitch. They don't line up right, the holes are millimeters off and every time I take them out and try again it seems that both sides get worse.

When you say you used the jack to move the rearend around, what exactly do you mean?

Thanks btw, you guy have been very helpful thusfar.

You use the jack to play with the height of the rearend. You may have to lower the rearend a little or raise it up a little to get the bolt holes to line up so you can get the bolt in.
