Horrible Creaking

Anyone ever have an issue with the front passenger side making a horrible creaking noise? Mine just recently started doing this over the past couple of days. I also noticed that when it first comes out of the garage it doesnt do it at all. It only starts after driving a while then after it sits again if you push down on that side it doesnt creak again. Its very weird. The shocks and all seem to be fine. It doesnt just keep bouncing when you push down on it. Any insight would be great.

First thread I read about this, you're not alone. My 95 camaro is doing the exact same thing, hope we find the answer because I dont plan on spending unnecessary $$$.

LOL, mine has done some of that lately. I have not had a chance to look into it. I can drive somewhere and it is quiet, then noisy coming back.

At least Im not the only one. If I am not mistaken, the car still has the original shocks on it. When I purchased the car it only has 56k miles on it and now only has 70k. Could heat from the engine and the ambient temp outside be causing that front right shock to heat up too much or some such? Just a shot in the dark lol.

I replaced all the ball joints and bushings on the front of my '97 trying to quiet the noise only to finally figure out that it must have been the shocks. At least I warned the guy I sold it to. It quit after a few minutes every morning but it was a bitch early on.

Re: Horrible Creaking

Dad mentioned maybe the bushings in the control arms as the culprit to making the noise. Guess Ill see about getting some silicon spray and see if that fixes it.

Re: Horrible Creaking

Fixed my squeak today by removing and greasing the front sway bar bushings. As the bar heated up from engine/radiator heat, the creak would get worse. It would be quiet when I left the house, but terrible when I would get back home. Quiet now.

Wonder if silicone spray would work too. I dont have the skills to take that stuff apart. Probably not the time either between family and work.

It takes about 30 min or less after the car is up in the air for access. All you need is a 13mm deep socket and a 10mm socket (to remove a cover on the LH side). I don't think a spray is going to get in there where it is needed, but you could try.
