front shock replacement

i tore my front shocks out and i plan on getting strano springs, and kyb agx shocks all the way around. i took the shock out, and im just wondering how do i seperate the shock from the top part that bolts to the body? i took the top nut off and ive tried pounding it out, but it doesnt want to come, any suggestions?

With the upper seat ferrule fused that solidly to the shock shaft, it would probably be a good idea to get a new upper seat. Many people have to cut the shock shaft to disassemble the pieces.
