Energy Suspension Spring Isolators
Hey guys, I would like to raise the rear of my car some and was thinking about replacing the stock rear spring isolators with some universal polyurethane ones from Energy Suspension. I figure I can get some that are taller than stock and the polyurethane will not compress as much.
So, can someone help me with what isolator type and dimensions would be correct for our cars from the following link: http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...-Isolators.asp
Also, I would like to hear if anyone has any experience with these or has successfully raised their rearend by another method. However, I am NOT interested in the spring rubbers that go between the coils. I have done a search and have not had much luck.
Do you think they will squeak badly because they are polyurethane?

That is certainly an option.
Does anyone have an isolator laying around they could look at to tell me which Energy Suspension "type" it is and get some of the required dimensions for me? I would very much appreciate it.

i'd be interested in this too...
i'd like to lower my car...but don't want the full drop of most springs...3/4" would be perfect.
i know about the "hose mod" and using Koni shocks with the lower perches to get a small drop...but i'd REALLY like a stiffer sping too.
i know how to shim the front so that they are not so low, but i've been trying to figure out how to do the rears.

teke184, I read some of your old posts while searching and we need to come up with a solution for this.
I am currently thinking about adding a 1/4 to 1/2" polyurethane spacer on the spring perch, below the spring. Right now I am planning on taking some measurements of the spring perch and ordering a style A or C universal isolator from Energy Suspension. Then I can trim it slightly, if necessary, and it should do the trick and for a lot cheaper than some of the other options out there. I will let you know how it turns out and post some pictures, although that may be awhile.

Plywood spacers, I like that. I wonder what they compressed to when they where finally seated? Was this treated wood or not? WHOA, I said wood. Is that allowed?

Yea, something about putting wood back there just doesn't sounds right!
However, I like the idea. So you are saying you put the "spacer" at the top of the spring, between the spring isolator and the car?
I was thinking about putting it at the bottom of the spring, between the spring and the spring perch.
Will either location be fine, or is one better than the other?

Mine are marked 10019587 FK 3 6 and 10019587 FK 2 4 (some people say 1LE spring isolators are different than stock ... I don't know and mine are dimensionally identical so I think the FK 2 4 and 3 6 are just mold identifiers)
O.D. = 5 5/8", I.D. = 2 1/2", overall H = 1 1/2"
thickness in spring bed ... lowest 1/2", highest 3/4"
springbed O.D. = 5 3/8", springbed I.D. = 4 1/8"

Based on the numbers you provided, it looks like these would be the best replacement: http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...sp?prod=9.6120
The only problem is they don't provide much, if any more height and they do not have the same "threaded" type design as the stock isolators. Thus, I am not sure they would be much different.
After looking at the spring perches today, there is not enough room to add a spacer and still have the spring safely seated around the alignment post. Therefore, I am going to have to either use a different spring isolator, like one from Energy Suspension, or add a spacer at the top.
I wonder if it might be better to just replace the rear springs with some lowering springs that have less drop than the Hypercoil springs I currently have...
