Because if your front u-joint breaks and your going fast the drive shaft will grab the ground like a pole vaulter and send your rearend into the air.

Worse yet, the driveshaft can rip through the floorboards and "attack" you.

It's good to have for piece of mind for street and strip use and not very expensive. I would get one just incase of the unexpected.

Here is a pic of mine installed. Mine is part of my torque arm, but you can get the idea anyway.

...and I highly recommend one with front and rear loops...when my ds broke in half on the dyno I wished I had both loops...Now I do and its good piece of mind.
