Break Issue fast reply would be appricated!
Break Issue fast reply would be appricated!
On my way into work, my ABS INOB and ASR OFF light both came on at the same time on my 96 z. I guess my breaks are still working fine, they dont lock up or anything, but I still want to know if this could mean something more serious? I would like to know if it would be ok to drive with these lights on because today i have to drive about and hour away to the main office for my new job to finish up some paper work and go over somethings, so pretty important for me to make it. Will I be fine or should I play is safe?
Thanks in advance,

You'll be fine; the system is designed to still work if the "electronics" go out. Possible causes are dirty ABS sensors, dirty ground (ground post on the passenger side fender next to the red positive terminal) or a burnt ABS wire (if you have headers).

I do have aftermarket headers, bbk shorties to be exact. Is this something simple to fix I could do myself or does it require met dropping my car off to a shop?
Thanks for the quick reply OBE, greatly appricated.

Re: Break Issue fast reply would be appricated!
There are maybe 40 different codes that can set off the ABS light. The dealership can scan the code a tell you what's unhappy. If you do a search on this board you'll find the major sources are burned wired as the front ABS sensor wires route close to the header tubes. Depending on how bad your wires are burned, you may either need to splice in new wires or tape them up (poor way to fix the issue). Then reroute them away from the headers or put some heat sleeving over the wires.
