brake/rotor install?

I need to replace all 4 brakes and probably rotors on my 97 Formula. I've had the same brakes for 50K and original rotors. I plan on just going to an autozone type place to get new pads and rotors.
Does anybody have any good brake pad recommendations that are low dust with good stopping? I bought the car with its current pads and they are extremely dust free and would like my replacements to be the same.
Any opinions on pads and tips on installing new pads/rotors? Thanks.

I got me 4 duralast rotos from autozone and hawk pads all around from jegs. They stop awesome, and pretty low dust.

Re: brake/rotor install?

I figured I'd go with those type of rotors but I would like to try and spend less money than what those Hawk pads cost from Jegs.
Any tips/hints on doing a brake rotor job? Car has 76k on it so once it hits 100k I'll be doing a full tune-up.

Re: brake/rotor install?

check Ebay to see if you can get a cheap set of LS1 rotors and spindles with calipers for the front. supposed to be a decent brake upgrade, and if you go the Ebay route it's kind of cheap.

Thats not a bad idea, don't know if I want to go to that extent of replacing spindles and calipers. I still need to buy jack stands and a torque wrench (weddings & houses drain money) so keeping costs down is the key. Just need decent rotors with good dust free pads. Thanks everyone!

Re: brake/rotor install?

You could do the ls1 brake swap as well. The carbon metalic pads from auto zone are decnet, but hawk pads are 100 times better.

Re: brake/rotor install?

I would not recomend buying used parts off ebay. If you want to do the 98+ upgrade then try and find the spindles and hubs at a auto wrecking yard, then buy new callipers, pads, and rotors. Im currently doing the upgrade and bought some Wagner thermo quiets, cant comment if they were worth the price or not though.
